Just So You Know

Over the last two years, I realized that our most successful endeavors are the ones that are essential, in some way, to the members involved in a project or initiative. Whether we are talking about creating a chapter, organizing a membership meeting, leading a new project, answering a question, organizing a fund raising initiative, or participating in a project, your time, passion, and expertise are the fuel to our success in your communities around the world.

a history of 2013 posts (below) Looking forward to volunteering with you in 2014.

JSYK Post: Thank you for the gift of your membership

We are supposed to be doing better. It sure does not feel like it. I tell my kids to follow your passions. You never know what Life will throw at you.

We are Chemists that Care. Chemists Without Borders is reinventing our business, refocusing our projects, and creating new volunteer opportunities.

Hope your Holidays are peaceful.

Thank you for the gift of your membership.

JSYK Post: Chemists Without Borders goes Clubbing

Remember when we used to go Clubbing? Maybe not.

I remember not getting into Studio 54 in 1983. The long line, to get in, started moving. We were excited to see the famous New York City (NYC) Studio 54 dance club. The bouncer turned the beautiful couple ahead of us to the right, he turned Gus and I to the left. The next thing we knew we were on the curb. I guess NYC clubs just want the beautiful people.

Well, Chemists Without Borders want you!

For years, Chemists Without Borders University Chapters have competed with university chemistry clubs. Why?

Chemists Without Borders Chapters forces students to focus less on Chemistry and more on organization administration tasks. What Chemists Without Borders really needs are people and resources to help with new Project Concepts:

Test
Validate
Promote (local awareness)

For example, our Arsenic Education Project has three phases (steps):

1) SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
2) Testing
3) Teaching

The UCSB chemistry club may help with the last two phases: Testing (SONO filtering, Test Kits) and Teaching (webinars, Southern California Arsenic Education).

Remember the valuable Community Outreach Awareness that will occur for your club, your university, as well as with Chemists Without Borders. We are all trying to make a positive difference in the world.

It is a Win-Win-Win.

LouCiabattoni(@Chemists Without Border.org) will be contacting any student/alumni members that have expressed an interest in chapters (now just an existing chemistry club relationship) or if you have a club connection interest then email him.

Just So You Know
My words "We are not valuing our membership" got me into the position that I am in today. As the new Vice President of Chemists Without Borders (October 2013), I am determined to make good on your passion for giving back.

As membership manager, my heart is always touched as I processed your Subscription Request to join our organization.

Some members help in our internal operations or participate in a project or initiative. The Just So You Know Blog post is designed to keep you informed of what is happening at Chemists Without Borders. Our goal is to provide weekly updates for all members to know what is happening.
